1. How to get a boat launch parking permit?

There are two types of boat launch parking permits, daily and annual. There are separate fees for residents of the Town of Troy and a nonresident. The daily permit is good only for the day and is available at the boat launch in the permit box. The annual permit is good for the calendar year. The annual fee may be placed in the daily permit envelope at the boat launch. Include a note stating the enclosed payment is for an annual permit and the address the permit should be mailed to. Annual permits may also be obtained at the Recycling Center or at Town Hall during regular hours of operation. The Recycling center is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 8:00 – 12:30. Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 – 12:30. The annual permit is also available by mailing the fee to the Troy Town Hall, 654 Glover Road, Hudson, WI 54016.

2. How to get a dog license?

All dogs over the age of six months must be licensed. A fine of $30.00 plus court costs, is imposed on owners of unlicensed dogs in the Town of Troy. A dog license form needs to be completed. This form can be accessed under the "Animal Control" tab on the left. The form is also available at the Town Hall. The fees are $10.00 for spayed or neutered dogs or $20.00 for non-spayed or non-neutered dogs. To complete the form, a current vaccination certificate for your dog is necessary. The form and the fee may be either mailed to or dropped off at the Troy Town Hall, 654 Glover Road, Hudson, WI 54016.

3. What are the exemptions from getting a burning permit?

Burning permits are required within the Town of Troy unless the one of the following exemptions applies: 1. Burning materials that are contained and burned in a stove, furnace or incinerator located inside a building. 2. Burning charcoal or other combustible material for fuel for domestic cooking outdoors at a residence or in public parks, in devices intended and built or manufactured for that purpose. This exemption does not apply during a declared public fire emergency. 3. Burning in a burning barrel in conformity with Wisconsin Administrative Code NR 429.04 (1)(e), the requirements of which shall be included in the application form. This exemption does not apply upon a declared public fire emergency. 4. Emergency fires used to warm the person or cook food. 5. Fires set by a Fire Department for training or fire fighting purposes

4. How much does it cost to get burning permit?

There is no cost for a burning permit. They may be obtained at the Recycling Center or at Town Hall during regular hours of operation. The Recycling Center is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 8:00 – 12:30. Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 – 12:30. The permit is an annual permit, valid for the calendar year. All burns must be called in to and approved by the St. Croix County Communications Center at 386-4701. If a fire truck/emergency vehicle is dispatched for any reason because of your fire, you will be charged the $800.00 fire call charge plus any expenses incurred on the fire call.

Recycling

1. Where can I dispose of lawn clippings and brush?

The town does not have a composting site for grass clippings or brush. The following information is taken from St. Croix County's recycling website. "St Croix County does not have a compost site where residents can drop-off leaves and grass clippings, but there are some options for these materials. 1) Consider on-site disposal options like composting and mulching. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has further information about setting up your own backyard composting project. 2) Diamond D Farms in Somerset accepts grass clippings and leaf waste for free and a limited amount of brush for a fee. St Croix County residents can contact Dennis at Diamond D Farms at 651.238.0734. 3) Freedom Farm in Houlton accepts grass clippings, leaf waste and manure for free. They also accept a limited amount of brush for a free-will offering. Garry can be reached at Freedom Farm at 715.549.6451. 4) All Natural Recycling south of River Falls accepts grass and leaves for recycling. 2. How do I dispose of paint?

The following information is taken directly from the St. Croix County Recycling website. "Latex (water based) paints can simply be dried out and put in the trash. Small quantities dry out quickly. For larger amounts line a cardboard box with plastic and pour the paint in. When paint hardens, box and all can go in the trash. To hasten drying, add crumpled newspapers, kitty litter, or a commercial paint hardener found at most home improvement stores. Latex paint is not accepted at Clean Sweep Hazardous Waste Events. However, oil-based paints, stains and varnishes, and any paint containing lead, should be brought the Clean Sweep Hazardous Waste Collection events."

1. What is the mill rate?

The 2016 Mill Rate per thousand dollars of assessed value for River Falls School District residents is $14.04. The Mill Rate per thousand dollars of assessed value for Hudson School District Residents is $14.28.

2. When are my taxes due, and where do I pay them?

Taxes are paid to the St. Croix County Treasurer at 1101 Carmichael Rd., in Hudson. The first half is due by January 31st of the year, the second half is due by July 31st.

3. When do taxes get mailed?

By State Statue taxes must be mailed by the third Monday in December of each year.

Load Limits

1. When do the load limits go up or come down?

Troy puts the load limits up and takes them down at about the same time St. Croix County limits go up and down.

2. What are the load limits?

The load limits are 6 tons single axle, 10 tons tandem, and 3 tons each additional axle, per DOT regulations.
