From St. Croix Co Highway Dept:
Good afternoon – With the predicted weather we wanted to provide an update for our winter storm response planning. The initial round of snow is supposed to begin soon and continue into Wednesday morning. There is a wide range of snow predicted across the County into Wednesday morning. We are planning a full round of plowing to commence early tomorrow morning on our two lane highways with 24-hour coverage on all multiple lane highways in the County.
Weather scheduled for Wednesday night into Thursday looks increasingly difficult. We have seen total snow accumulation from 16-24 inches. The snow, coupled with wind gusts predicted to reach 38-40 MPH, could create conditions in which it will be difficult to maintain operations. We will continue all our coverage tomorrow into the evening. The predicted visibility, wind, snow fall rate will create life safety conditions. While it is not anticipated, conditions are possible in which we may need to suspend operations for safety of our operators. Please plan ahead as travel will not be advisable. We will be doing our best to ensure the major traffic highways remain open, but anticipate drifting and dangerous driving conditions. Please stay home if you can. Be safe.
