Hudson Fire Department Recruitment

Hudson Fire Department Recruitment

The Hudson Fire Department is currently recruiting firefighters for its entire response region, including an expanded part of the Town of Troy starting January 1, 2027. The expanded Hudson service area aims to shorten response times by minimizing driving distances between Fire Stations and properties in Troy. The Town of Troy is served by both the Hudson and River Falls Fire Departments. A new fire sub-station in Troy is also being considered to further improve response times.

Interested Troy residents are encouraged to join the Hudson Fire Department. Attend the informational meeting on June 26 at 7:00 PM at the Hudson Fire Station for details.

Additional Background:

The Town of Troy has been working on a number of efforts to optimize the fire services within Troy.  Since 2019, when the Hudson Fire Department relocated the station from downtown Hudson to the current location on Ward Avenue, the Town has been working to change response boundaries to minimize the driving distances between individual properties and the primary Fire Station responsible for service.

The Town of Troy is served by 2 Fire Departments, split into 2 primary response areas:

  • The Hudson Fire Department (through a Joint Advisory Board consisting of the City of Hudson, Village of North Hudson, Town of Hudson, and the Town of Troy)
  • The River Falls Fire Department (through the River Falls Rural Fire Association, consisting of the Town of Clifton, Town of Kinnickinnic, Town of Pleasant Valley, Town of River Falls, and the Town of Troy)

Starting January 1, 2027, A larger portion of Troy will be primarily served by the Hudson Fire Department in order to reduce the driving distances between many properties and the primary Fire Station. A significant portion of the Town will continue to be primarily served by the River Falls Fire Department, again to minimize driving distances and access to hydrants where available.
