St. Croix County will be hosting a collection event for hazardous wastes on September 24th and September 25th (for hours see below). Households and Farms are both welcome to make use of this collection to drop off. Households do not need to pre-register.
- Farms must pre-register waste materials using this fillable form (PDF)
- Email the form to the County’s Recycling Specialist
- The recycling specialist will then contact you to set-up a drop-off appointment
Farm Qualification
The first 500 pounds are free. You will be charged for additional material.
$5/gallon container for all paints / stains will apply to farms (more details below
The collection event is held at the St. Croix County Highway Shop, 666 E Hwy 12, Town of Hudson
- Tuesday, September 24
- Households and Farms: from 2:30 – 6:30 pm
- Wednesday, September 25
- Households only: from 8 am – noon
Clean Sweep accepts the following items for free except those marked in bold:

- Aerosol cans*
- Air freshener sprays
- Bathroom cleaners *
- Brake fluid, carb cleaner
- Cement and glues
- Concrete cleaners (acid) *
- Corrosives and lye
- Degreasers, trans fluid
- Drain and toilet bowl cleaners
- Floor and furniture stripper
- Fluorescent bulbs and tubes
- Gasoline, lighter fluid
- Household re-chargeable batteries
- Insect, rodent poison *
- Mercury thermometers and thermostats
- Metal cleaners, polishes *
- Oil filters and used motor oil
- Oven cleaners *
- Paint & Stain ($5 per 1-gallon or smaller / $25 per 5-gallon pail)
- Fees are based on can size, not the volume in the can. Combine can contents of same paint type to save money (example: combine all latex paint together but do not combine with oil paint)
- Paint stripper and solvents
- PCB’s
- Pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides
- Pool chemicals
- Rechargeable batteries
- Roofing tar and driveway sealant
- Shellac, varnish, urethane, polyurethane
- Spot removers *
- Vape pens
- Weed killer and fertilizers with weed killer
