Notice of Public Hearing – St. Croix County

ST. CROIX COUNTY

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The St. Croix County Community Development Committee will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, August 13, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., at the St. Croix County Government Center, County Board Room, 1101 Carmichael Rd., Hudson, Wisconsin, 54016 to consider the proposed amended St. Croix County Chapter 15-General Zoning and Chapter 17-Lower St. Croix Riverway Ordinances.  Chapter 15 regulates properties in the unincorporated area of towns under County Zoning and Chapter 17 applies to the Lower St. Croix Riverway District.  The purpose of these ordinances is to promote public health, safety, welfare, and natural resources by encouraging planned and orderly development. 

The only proposed amendment to Chapter 17 is to move conditional use permit application review from the Community Development Committee to the Board of Adjustment.  The proposed amendments to Chapter 15-General Zoning include a 12-month moratorium on medium and large-scale data centers and transfers conditional use permit review from the Community Development Committee to the Board of Adjustment.  The Town of Hammond is pursuing a rezoning amendment to make their zoning map consistent with their comprehensive plan.  The proposed amendments also include several changes regarding permitted/conditional uses and their associated design standards to provide greater clarity.

Pertinent information regarding these amendments is available from the St. Croix County Community Development Department.  Interested persons may submit written or oral comments related to this matter any time prior to the hearing or at the hearing.
